Crazy Love

I just wanted to write a short note telling everyone that they need to read the book Crazy Love! It's amazing and will make you take a look at your life. Francis Chan is an amazing speaker that does nothing but point you to the cross and to Jesus and what that means for you!

LeaderTreks and Me

First, of all, let me tell you that I am not very good at putting my thoughts down on paper. Writing has never really been my thing. What I put down on paper sounds like my thoughts, and not like a paper.

But I did want to tell you about LeaderTreks today. This is the amazing ministry that I get to be a part of starting this September. I decided to join their summit team, which is their new staff, a couple days before Christmas. I have personally known about LeaderTreks since Feb '06, and have got to experience a couple of things that this ministry does. Equipping Leaders to Fulfill the Great Commission is their heart... or I guess OUR heart. Student Leadership Development is what we do, and we use the classrooms of the mission field and wilderness in order to train students with these principles.

Anyways...
Why LeaderTreks? Why leave Florence?

Leadership is an amazing topic that many youth pastors desire to have knowledge of but don't have time to develop in. Think about it, Youth pastors are amazing individuals that pour their time and energy into running with students while having to accept responsibility for adult actions as a member of a youth staff. While they are off explaining the purpose of why kids should come and play paintball on a saturday, for example, LeaderTreks is in the office learning about Leadership, learning about your youth group and giving you a program for Leadership development that honestly youth pastors won't have time to develop.

Anyways, this is just a chunk of my thoughts on LT and my life...

Look for more later!

interesting...

I feel like I have so much to say but I have no idea
on how to start. Currently I am sitting at school and
waiting to go and work out a little. It's been a great
time being at CIU once a week, such an encouragement
in the midst of what seems like chaos. Chaos being my
life that is. How is it that my life has gotten so
chaotic? A mix of running hard after doing the Lord's
work mixed a little bit with my own selfishness to
want to look good and be successful. For some reason I
think I have convinced myself that Busyness is next to
Godliness.

Anyways, please pray for me as I fight this thing
called busyness. I hope really to stop being busy and
just start being available. I know I can't have one
without the other...

The Modern Sabbath

so I do a very poor job at resting... so here are a few thoughts about resting, more for me then you, but I want to share...

"resting can be an act of worship"

"I figure God was serious when He mapped out a day of rest for us. If God Himself needed a day to rest after creating this universe, we would be stupid to think the same isn't essential for us."

"In modern Christianity, we have come to understand that worshipping God is not just done through singing and instruments, but through our lifestyles. But we're so rushed in packing our lifestyles with activities that perhaps we forget that God can glory not only in our work, but even in our rest. We want so much to honor God that we pack the completion of projects even into our days of rest, when really, God would sometimes prefer that we do absolutely nothing."
